The campground owner planted some peach trees with inground sprinklers next to them. They are flowering now -- very pretty. The owner learned the hard way that trees need watering help in this desert area because most of the ones he originally planted died. We also have some green grass starting to show through the brown and even little flowers in the grass.
The owner is a musician - plays violin/fiddle and built the event center/auditorium in the campground just so he could play music with his little band. The band is called the Broke Mill Boys and they aren't too bad if you like old country western. We can listen to their jam sessions for free. He has also been hiring other bands to come in and play and we can go listen for a small charge. Sometimes the bands will come in and have a jam session a few days before they perform and we can sit in and listen. Most of these bands are very good.
So we keep pretty busy between fishing, listening to music and enjoying camp breakfast twice a week. One of the downsides to Del Rio is the pitiful shopping they have here. A Walmart, very small shopping mall with a Penney's and a few shoe stores are about it. You have to go to San Antonio for any real shopping -- two and half hours away. Thank goodness for shopping on line if we really need something.
